Mixed xylenes

The C8 aromatics cut of an aromatics plant: ortho-, meta- and para-xylene with ethylbenzene. CAS 1330-20-7 (xylene, mixed isomers) has a valid check digit; the chemicals package 1.5.2 does not hold it and PubChem gives no CID for it, so no InChIKey or CID (the isomers are 95-47-6, 108-38-3 and 106-42-3). The composition is one typical stream from the source, not a specification.

Routes compared

One route in the Atlas makes Mixed xylenes: nothing to compare yet. A comparison appears when a second route is added.

Per 1 kg of Mixed xylenes: inventory from each route's LCI dataset, unallocated; footprints per the functional unit of their own LCA.

ISO 14044 requires a critical review (by a panel of interested parties, ISO/TS 14071) of a comparative assertion intended to be disclosed to the public. These routes are listed side by side for screening; a statement that one is better than another needs that review. None of these routes has had such a review.
