Vacuum gas oil

Distillate of the vacuum distillation of atmospheric residue, boiling from about 360 to 560 degC (light and heavy); the main feed of catalytic crackers and hydrocrackers, often hydrotreated first. Sulfur content by crude: 1.00 wt% for the 375 to 565 degC cut of the Johan Sverdrup assay that refinery-distillation-1 uses, 2 to 3 % w/w in the hydrocracker feeds of REF BREF 2015 Table 3.62. Composition by crude. No composition recorded yet: one goes in only with its source (docs/registry.md, Fuel mixtures).

Routes compared

One route in the Atlas makes Vacuum gas oil: nothing to compare yet. A comparison appears when a second route is added.

Per 1 kg of Vacuum gas oil: inventory from each route's LCI dataset, unallocated; footprints per the functional unit of their own LCA.

ISO 14044 requires a critical review (by a panel of interested parties, ISO/TS 14071) of a comparative assertion intended to be disclosed to the public. These routes are listed side by side for screening; a statement that one is better than another needs that review. None of these routes has had such a review.
